Make Camp Sunshine Part of Your Estate Planning
The Circle of Sunshine is Camp Sunshine's planned giving society; its members are ensuring the future of Camp Sunshine for many years to come. The name Circle of Sunshine symbolizes the Camp Sunshine friendship bracelet and the circle of our special Camp Sunshine community. Members of the Circle of Sunshine will be recognized in the yearbook and invited to special Circle of Sunshine events.
Planned gifts are among the easiest ways to give back to something that means so much to you as a friend of Camp Sunshine. Your gift at any level will make a very real difference in the future to the children and teens with cancer who Camp Sunshine supports. Planned giving can be as simple as naming Camp Sunshine as a beneficiary of you will, IRA or life insurance policy- here's how.
One of the easiest ways to make a planned gift is to designate Camp Sunshine as a beneficiary in your will. A bequest may be a specific dollar amount, a certain asset or a percentage of your estate. Your attorney can add a bequest to your will with language as simple as this: "I give __________ Dollars ($_______) to CAMP SUNSHINE, Decatur, Georgia. Camp Sunshine's Federal Tax Identification Number is 58-1872217."
Because donated assets such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or real estate held for more than one year provide a federal income tax deduction based on fair market value, making a gift of the property eliminates all capital gains tax and can result in a larger gift for a lower out-of-pocket cost to the donor than selling the property and giving the proceeds.
Another way to make a significant contribution is to name Camp Sunshine as a primary or contingent beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or to donate a policy to us that you no longer need. Contact your life insurance company or your agent for a change of beneficiary designation form.
Naming Camp Sunshine as a beneficiary of your Individual Retirement Account, 401(K) or other retirement accounts may provide income and estate tax savings. Your employer's human resources office or the broker or other plan custodian of your IRA can provide you with the change of beneficiary designation to make this gift.
All gifts to Camp Sunshine are tax deductible as allowed by law. Please consult your tax, financial or legal advisor concerning any gift arrangements you are considering.
