Sally Hale, MN, RN

Executive Director

Camp Sunshine staff since 1987

Responsible for the oversight of all of Camp Sunshine's programs, fundraising and community relations.

Sally is a pediatric oncology nurse and worked in the hospital and clinic setting with patients and families before assuming the role of Executive Director of Camp Sunshine. She volunteered as a camp nurse at the first camp in 1983 and for five years, before becoming Executive Director.

Tenise Newberg

Senior Director of Program Operations

Camp Sunshine staff since 1999

Responsible for overseeing program operations, bereavement programs, young adult programs, scholarships, and teen leadership. She supports summer camp and teen retreat.

Diagnosed when she was 18 years old, Tenise is a young adult survivor of cancer. She started her days at Camp Sunshine as a Counselor in Training in 1988 and then as volunteer counselor for 10 years before formally joining the Camp Sunshine staff.

Edith Tomasetti, RN, MSN

Program Director

Camp Sunshine staff since 2019

Responsible for Summer Camp and Teen Retreats. She supports Remember the Sunshine Weekend and Day.

Edith has been a part of the Camp Sunshine family since she attended the very first camp, as a camper, in 1983. Prior to joining the staff, Edith was a long-time volunteer, serving as a camp nurse and cabin counselor.

Jamie Ekstrom, M.Ed

Program Director- Family Programs

Camp Sunshine staff since 2021

Responsible for family camps, sibling camps, and other family programs.

Jamie first attended Camp Sunshine as a teen camper and now returns as member of our team. He has experience in camp management, working at our partner camp, Camp Twin Lakes, prior to joining our staff.

Stephanie Irwin, CCLS

Program Manager - Savannah

Camp Sunshine staff since 2014

Responsible for connecting families in the Savannah area with Camp Sunshine and implementing Sunshine 2U at the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah.

Stephanie, a Certified Child Life Specialist, joined Camp Sunshine in 2014. She coordinates all programming and community outreach in the Savannah area.

Morgan Shelton, MS, CCLS

Community Program Director

Camp Sunshine staff since 2018

Responsible for developing and delivering Camp Sunshine activities in the community – regionally and in the hospital and outpatient setting, including Sunshine 2U, our hospital based camp program.

Morgan is a Certified Child Life Specialist with experience at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in the Emergency Department.

Volunteer Manager

Camp Sunshine staff since 1998

Responsible for managing the recruitment, application process, and training of volunteers for a variety of programs and needs for Camp Sunshine.

Amy has been a part of the Camp Sunshine staff, serving in various roles, since 1998, including 5 years as Summer Camp Director.

Responsible for fundraising initiatives to support Camp Sunshine's mission including individual, foundation, and corporate giving.

Alicia is a seasoned development professional with extensive leadership experience in the Atlanta nonprofit community. She is passionate about our mission and our important work with children and families.

Responsible for communications, public relations, marketing, and media.

Meredith is a Certified Child Life Specialist with years of experience working with children and their families in the hospital setting. She first joined Camp Sunshine as a camper in 2001 and has returned to manage all forms of Camp Sunshine communications.

Responsible for community engagement, public relations, and marketing to support Camp Sunshine’s programs in the Savannah region.

Suzanne joined the Camp Sunshine staff with over 10 years of experience working in nonprofit development. She lives in Savannah where she has strong ties in the community.

Database Administrator

Camp Sunshine staff since 2005

Responsible for the management and integrity of our database, database training, and general office management.

Chanteasea joined Camp Sunshine staff in 2005, with over 10 years of experience in the Atlanta nonprofit community. She has a degree in Business Management.

Program Coordinator

Responsible for planning and delivering activities and programs in the hospital and outpatient settings, as well as at Family and Sibling Camps, Camp Sunshine House, and communities in Georgia.

Kate is a Certified Child Life Specialist with experience in the pediatric oncology hospital setting, including Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Responsible for data entry and management in our organizational database, gift processing, and acknowledgements.

Danielle began working at Camp Sunshine in the fall of 2023 with several years of experience in Georgia non-profit work.

Julie Dascher

Development Manager

Camp Sunshine staff since 2023

Responsible for special fundraising events and support in development initiatives to support Camp Sunshine’s mission.

Julie is passionate about helping others and has extensive experience in nonprofit fundraising and event planning. Julie’s husband (Rick Dascher) is a long-time camp volunteer and Camp Sunshine has been a part of her family’s life for over 20 years.

Robin Hackney

Camp Support Services Administrator

Camp Sunshine staff since 2023

Robin joined Camp Sunshine’s staff in December 2023. She is responsible for summer camp registration, and camper information management. She assists with camper registration and administrative responsibilities. She is responsible for Holiday Sunshine for families in need.

Robin and her family became involved with Camp Sunshine when her son was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 at 4 years of age.
