Dear Sally and Staff,
I am so thankful for programs that make a difference. I am so thankful for Camp Sunshine and all the good it has brought into my life. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when I was 16 years old in 1999. The rigorous effects of the treatment for leukemia hit me and my family. I was daunted physically, mentally and spiritually. Chemotherapy for the first year was especially hard. I remember those moments for that whole year where it seemed I never felt good. It was very taxing on my mother’s side from me. But she watched me like a hawk.
I don’t think I could have pulled through that 3 ½ year treatment plan if I didn’t have Camp Sunshine and my family right beside me. As I look back on my treatment, I remember the good times I had at Camp Sunshine to be the best.
The biggest thing you need when you go through that stuff is a friend and at Camp Sunshine I got hundreds of friends that knew me – who went through the same thing – who knew what it was like. Camp Sunshine was my shining light!
Thank you all for your service and dedication!
